Twelve Distant Thunders

from HERE - The Journey (free) by André Lefebvre

I was working in a music store at the time (2004), selling pianos, synths and studio recording equipment. It was a highly stressful environment, along with the pressure I put on myself, and after a year I could not cope well anymore, having to be on antidepressants, and finally having to resign.

At the time of leaving, I had started a new album of instrumental songs, and this one was also an improvisation, with a synthesizer, so it was recorded in one take from start to finish. It reminded me of the experience of hearing thunder in the distance, sometimes the sound can be heard as foreboding.

Other times, distant thunders are reminiscent of my childhood. I used to love thunderstorms, and would sometimes stand outside in the rain to feel the power of one. This song is also an experience in slowing time, deep rest, an invitation to inner silence. Which is how I titled the CD afterwards.
